The Lonely Bird

I was a bird who was scared of heights a pitiful sight to see
I was the one you always saw on the lowest branch of the tree
I longed to fly upthere with the rest to be part of their beautiful flight
But I knew I was doomed to spend my life looking up as they flew out of sight

Then one day I looked up and saw sitting there at the top of the tree
The most beautiful bird I ever have seen and I knew she was there for me
She sang and she sang in a voice so clear Then she fluttered her feathers at me
I knew I was hooked when she shook her tail and winked right down at me

Before I could think what was happening to me My wings they spread out wide
I found myself flying up in the air Next thing I was by her side
I know I will never be frightened again My love has sent me free
And I thank my maker in heaven above for sending my sweetheart to me.
